Earth Electrical installed a total of 12 EV charging units in domestic premises this week.

4 X Rolec EVHS2020 home smart socketed (universal socket ‘will charge all cars’)

8 x Rolec EVHS2140 home smart tethered (has a 5 meter lead hard wired in unit)

**Tethered (tethered lead 5 meters standard)**If you go for a tethered type charger (cable attached to the unit):

Advantage: Just uncoil and plug in.

Disadvantage: Not all electric and hybrid cars have the same plugs or sockets. Type 2 is the most common on cars. Type 1 the type relates to, Mitsubishi Outlanders, Nissan Leafs before 2018, Kia souls before 2018, the newer nissan and kia models use Type 2.
**Socket type (does not come with public charging lead)**If you go for the socket type charger:

Advantages: looks better on wall, all electric and hybrid cars can use

Disadvantages: getting lead from boot each time you charge, when its rained (putting wet lead in boot). It does not come with a lead (known as a public charging lead).
